Make 10

Our math focus this week has been making 10. The children are memorizing the partners of 10.
10 and 0
9 and 1
8 and 2
7 and 3
6 and 4
5 and 5
and then the flips.
A fun way to practice is by using playing cards or Uno cards. Only use the cards 1-9. Lay them out in 4 rows of 5. Each player takes a turn flipping over 2 cards. If they equal 10, they keep the match, add 2 more cards to the rows, and try again. To make this game more challenging change the sum to equal a larger number and turn over three cards each play. Your child will need to use 3 addends to reach the desired target. Have fun!
